Bookstart is a nationwide project for early literacy education launched in 2008. This book gifting program targets children between 0 and 3 years old and their parents and adult caregivers.

With a book pack gift including two board books and a multilingual information flyer for parents and caregivers, Bookstart encourages parents to actively communicate with their child from the very first moment and to familiarize them with pictures.

The book pack gift is being distributed by libraries, healthcare professionals, pediatricians, and other. Libraries offer regular strorytelling sessions for families.

Bibliomedia Switzerland and the Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media, supported by various project partners and sponsors, are jointly committed to this goal.
