National Reading Aloud Days

At the start of the National Reading Aloud Days (Nationale Voorleesdagen), Dutch children in schools and kindergartens receive important visitors: grown-ups who will read to them from a book.

The selected ambassadors of the campaign are usually local or National politicians, policy makers or famous people like actors. They emphasise the importance of reading to children and will get lots of media coverage while doing so.

One book is chosen as the Reading Aloud Book of the Year, which can be bought for a small price at the local bookshop.
