National Reading Aloud Competition

The National Reading Aloud Competition truly is an national competition. Children aged 10-12 years, enter the competition by reading to their classmates. The winner then competes with other class winners, which leads to a school winner. School winners compete at regional level and in the end the winners from the 12 Dutch provinces meet to find out who reads best. But of course, the campaign is not only about the winners: schools that take part in the competition, emphasise how important (and fun) reading is. Children find out what books are great to read (or listen to) and they learn reading is an important and well appreciated activity.
