Nwar is an after-school, family literacy programme for primary school pupils who have not acquired the required basic literacy skills. Literacy tutors who have followed a professional development course in literacy, provide systematic literacy intervention to these students as well as encourage, up-skill and motivate parents/guardians who are required to accompany the student. Sessions are 1 hour sessions, twice a week for a maximum period of 4 semesters (2 years) or until the student reaches basic literacy skills level.

This programme is held twice a week in different locations in Malta and Gozo.
