Through Scottish Book Trust’s early years Bookbug programme, every child in Scotland receives free bags of books at different stages of their early life from birth to primary school. Bookbug sessions in libraries and community venues encourage families to read and sing with their little ones, building on the benefits from the book bags – including language and social development, wellbeing, and bonding. For families who need extra support, Bookbug trains early years practitioners and volunteers through the Bookbug for the Home initiative.
