Swiss Children’s and Youth Books Award

The Swiss Children’s and Youth Book Award honors annually an outstanding publication in any literary genres: picture books, children’s and youth books, non-fiction books or comics. An independent jury nominates five titles from the submitted publications for the shortlist, which is annonced in March, and the winner is selected from that list.

During the Solothurn Literature Days, the winning book will be announced. The main prize is endowed with 10,000 Swiss francs, the other four nominees each receive 2,500 Swiss francs.

The Swiss Children’s and Youth Book Award aims to help Swiss authors and illustrators and their publishers to gain greater public awareness and appreciation. The award underlines the importance of a diverse and lively children’s and youth literature for the reading motivation of children and teenagers.

This national award for authors of books for children and teenagers is organized by the Swiss Publisher and Booksellers Association SBVV, the Solothurn Literature Days and the Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media SIKJM.
