Book Start (Latvia)

The Reading Promotion Programme Book Start is based on the involvement of Latvian libraries in events known as the Owl School. There, preschool children and their families participate in developmental, educational, and creative activities.

Each young participant receives their own Start Bag – a backpack with a toy owl, a picture book, and an educational brochure for parents. It provides support for starting reading as a family activity and prepares new members of the Children, Youth, and Parents Jury.
