Čitaj mi! (Read to me!)

Čitaj mi! (Read to me!) is the first national campaign for the promotion of early reading in Croatia, launched in 2012 by a coalition of professional associations, NGOs, and experts. Its aim is to encourage parents to read aloud with babies and toddlers every day and to make early literacy an integral part of family life.

The campaign works to strengthen the role of public libraries in providing services for babies and young children, while fostering collaboration between librarians, pediatricians, speech therapists, logopedists, educators, and other professionals. Since 2014, the Croatian Logopedic Association has joined the initiative, organizing workshops for parents and the wider public on early literacy, language development, and reading.

The value of Čitaj mi! lies in its voluntary, cross-sector partnership model: professional associations, institutions, and individuals share knowledge, ideas, and resources to build a culture of early reading across Croatia.
