The Friedrich Bödecker Circles (FBKs), which are represented in all federal states in Germany, share the common goal and task of raising the awareness of children and young people for the significance and art of literature, encouraging them to read and introducing them to different kinds of books. Self-efficient and competent use of language is a prerequisite for the acquisition of education and ensures participation in social life. The FBKs enable young people to understand and classify literary texts and encourages them to compose and create their own lyrics and stories. This endeavor is mainly pursued through reading and writing workshops with specially selected child and youth book authors, which take place primarily in schools, but also in other places such as kindergartens, libraries and socio-cultural youth facilities.
“Who seems better to address, cherish and convey passion, value and vocation than someone who has dedicated his life to literature?”
