Summer Reading Institute (Letná škola čítania)

The Summer Reading Institute invites teachers to a unique multi-day event filled with inspiration and rich conversations about books and reading. Held during the summer break, the program focuses on helping educators to inspire and strengthen the love of reading and create engaging reading environments in their classrooms. Through workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities, participants gain practical tips on how to enrich reading lessons, motivate reluctant readers, and stay encouraged when progress is slow.

Led by experts from across Slovakia’s innovative education community, the institute offers access to curated book selections, creative classroom library ideas, and an immersive workshop on reading through art therapy.

Over the past two years, two Summer Institutes have been held, the second doubling in attendance to 50 participants. Attendees report actively applying many of the inspiring ideas and strategies from the institute in their own schools. Many are also encouraging their colleagues to join, helping to spread the program’s impact even further through peer-to-peer influence and shared enthusiasm.
