Ministarstvo kulture i medija

Zagreb , Croatia

Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia is the central public body for cultural policy, creative industries, media, and international cultural cooperation. It secures long-term support for cultural institutions and projects of national interest while promoting intercultural dialogue and inclusion.

In the field of reading promotion, the Ministry leads the National Strategy for the Promotion of Reading, which aims to: (1) build a supportive social framework for reading, (2) develop reading literacy and critical engagement, and (3) improve the availability of books and digital content. Special focus is placed on early childhood, schools, and lifelong reading.

""The decline in reading interest, the transformation of reading habits in the digital age, and continuing literacy gaps highlight the need for societies to strengthen the culture of literacy through systematic and strategic action.""
